Content Gap Analysis

Identify high-value keywords and topics your competitors own but you are missing.


The Content Gap Analysis feature helps you stop guessing what to write and start publishing content that drives revenue. It analyzes your top competitors to find "Content Gaps"—keywords they rank for, traffic they are getting, and topics they cover that you do not.

How it Works

  1. Competitor Identification: The agent scans search results to find domains that compete for the same audience as you (not just the ones you know about).
  2. Keyword Intersect: It maps the full keyword universe of your competitors against yours.
  3. Gap Detection: It isolates keywords where:
    • Competitors rank on Page 1.
    • You do not rank at all (or rank poorly).
    • The keyword has commercial value (high CPC or buyer intent).

Running an Analysis

  1. Navigate to Content Gap (in the dashboard).
  2. Verify your Target Domain is correct.
  3. Click Analyze.
  4. Wait 1-2 minutes for the agent to crawl and cross-reference data.

Content gaps also auto-refresh when competitor monitoring completes—so your backlog stays up to date.

Interpreting Results

The analysis report has three main tabs:

Overview

Executive summary: domain strength, content maturity, and key opportunities.

Gaps (Missing Opportunities)

These are your highest ROI targets. Each gap includes:

  • Topic / Keyword: What users are searching for.
  • Volume: Monthly search volume.
  • Difficulty: How hard it is to rank (0-100).
  • Opportunity Score: A SpyGlow metric combining volume, intent, and your domain authority.
  • Priority: So you know what to ship first.

Keywords (Overlap Matrix)

See which competitors cover which keywords, and where you overlap vs. gaps. Useful for spotting patterns—e.g., "Competitor X is going heavy on comparison pages; we're missing that."

Taking Action

Don't just read the report—use it.

  1. Select high-priority gaps from the list.
  2. Create an Action: Turn a gap into a task your team can track. Click to create an Action from the gap.
  3. Generate content: Use AI to produce a first draft—blog posts, landing pages, or case studies—then edit, regenerate, or export.
  4. Export: Download the list to CSV for your SEO team.
