Actions

Turn what you learn about competitors into tracked work with steps, an owner and a due date.

Spotting a competitor's move is the easy part. Deciding what to do about it, and making sure it gets done, is harder. Actions keep that work in one place, linked to the change, gap or insight that started it.

Create an action

From scratch

  1. Open Actions in the sidebar and click New action.
  2. Enter a Title. Add a Description, Priority, Category, Due date and Steps (optional) if you want them.
  3. Click Create action.

From something SpyGlow found

An action you create from a change, gap, issue, insight or report links back to it in a Source insight section on the action's page. Actions from changes, competitor insights, content gaps and SEO issues come with steps SpyGlow suggests, marked AI suggested. You can add or delete steps.

Work on an action

Click an action to open it.

  • Steps: tick a step when it is done, and the progress bar shows how many are complete. Add new steps under the list. Each step has Add note, Ask AI, which opens AskGlow about that step, and a delete button.
  • Status: Not started, In Progress, Completed or Cancelled.
  • Priority: Critical, High, Medium or Low.
  • Assignee: who owns the action. On Teams, you can choose anyone who has joined your workspace. On other plans, you can assign an action to yourself.
  • Due date: click Set date to pick one, or Clear due date to remove it. Actions past their due date show Overdue on the board.
  • Ask AskGlow, at the top of the page, opens a chat that already knows the action's description, steps and notes.
  • Complete marks the action as done. If some steps are still open, SpyGlow tells you before you confirm.

To remove an action, click Delete action under Danger zone. Deleting cannot be undone.

The board

On a computer, Actions shows a board with four columns: Not started, In Progress, Completed and Cancelled.

  • Drag a card to another column to change its status, or use Move to in the card's menu.
  • The same menu has Priority, Mark complete, Open details and Delete.
  • Each card shows where the action came from, its priority, step progress, when it was created and its due date.
  • Use the search box, the priority filter and the assignee filter to narrow the board.

On a phone, the same actions appear as a list grouped by status.

On Teams, everyone in the workspace works from the same board. See Team.

Record the outcome

Once an action is completed, its page shows an Outcome section. Click Record outcome and fill in:

  • Was this action successful? Choose Yes, achieved the goal, Partially achieved, or No, did not achieve.
  • Impact level: Low, Medium or High.
  • Key results: up to five, for example "Published 3 articles".
  • Notes & learnings: what worked and what to try next time.

The outcome is your team's own assessment. It shows on the action and on its card on the board, so you can look back at which responses worked.

Limits

Active actions are the ones that are Not started or In Progress. Completed and cancelled actions do not count, and they stay on the board.
