Alerts and notifications
Choose which competitor changes interrupt you, and where they reach you.
SpyGlow keeps every change it finds on the Changes page. Alerts decide which of those changes come to you, and where: in the app, by email, in Slack or through a webhook. You set alerts for each competitor, and your account settings can turn a channel off everywhere.
Where alerts can go
| Channel | Plans |
|---|---|
| In-app | All plans |
| All plans | |
| Slack | Pro and above |
| Webhooks | Pro and above |
Connect Slack or a webhook first under Account, then Integrations. Then turn that channel on for the competitors you want. See Slack and Webhooks.
The defaults
Every new competitor starts with in-app and email alerts on, set to High impact only, which means changes scored 8 to 10. Slack and webhooks start off. The defaults are the same on every plan. You can change them on the Alerts step when you add a competitor, or at any time later.
Choose how sensitive alerts are
SpyGlow scores every change from 1 to 10. Choose the level that should reach you:
| Level | Alerts for scores |
|---|---|
| High impact only | 8 to 10 |
| High + Medium | 5 to 10 |
| All alerts | 1 to 10 |
To change it for one competitor:
- Open the competitor and go to the Settings tab.
- Expand Alert Preferences and turn off Use global alert defaults.
- Under Where should alerts go?, choose In-app, Email, Slack or Webhook.
- Under What kind of changes matter?, choose a level.
- Click Save.
Turn Use global alert defaults back on to make the competitor follow your account settings again.
You can also set an exact score. Open Notification settings from a competitor's menu on the Competitors list, or click Manage notifications on the Changes page and pick a competitor. Move the Alert sensitivity slider (8 is recommended), choose your Notification channels, and click Save Settings.
Account settings
Open your account settings and choose Notifications.
- Active channels shows which channels are on.
- Show in-app notifications turns in-app notifications on or off.
- Allow competitor alert emails pauses every alert email at once, without changing each competitor's choices.
Click Save delivery settings. A channel turned off here stays off for every competitor, even where the competitor has it on. Integrations at the top of the page takes you to Slack and webhook setup.
The notification center
The bell in the top bar shows your latest notifications and the unread count. Click View all notifications to open the full list.
- All, Unread and Read tabs, and a filter by type, such as Changes, Change reports, Reports or Actions.
- Notifications are grouped into Today, This week and Earlier.
- Click a notification to open what it is about. Hover over one to mark it as read or delete it.
- Mark all read clears the unread count. Clear read deletes notifications you have read.
On Pro, Growth and Teams, new changes show up in the app as soon as they are found, while you have SpyGlow open.
Quiet a competitor
Pausing a competitor stops its alerts as well as its checks. See Managing competitors.
The weekly report
On paid plans, SpyGlow also emails a weekly report every Monday with the week's changes across your competitors. See Reports.
