Battle cards
Build a one-page brief on a competitor that your sales team can trust, with every point linked to its source.
A prospect says they are also talking to a competitor. Before the call, your team needs to know how you compare, which objections to expect and how to answer them. A battle card puts that on one page for each competitor, and every point links to the evidence behind it.
Create a card
- Open Battle Cards in the sidebar and click Generate.
- Pick the Competitor and a Card type.
- Click Generate. For a Web research card, the button reads Generate research card.
| Card type | Evidence it uses | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Balanced (recommended) | Changes SpyGlow has monitored first, then web research to fill gaps | Most cards |
| Web research | Current information from the web | New competitors with little monitoring history |
| Monitored changes | Only changes SpyGlow has observed | Competitors SpyGlow already has reports on |
SpyGlow builds the card in the background while you keep working. In the list, a Balanced card shows its source as Quick generation.
- Each competitor has one card. If it already has one, SpyGlow keeps it. Use Check for updates to bring it up to date.
- You can make a card only for a competitor SpyGlow is monitoring. If monitoring is paused, resume it first.
- If you track competitors for more than one of your domains, the list follows the domain selected at the top of the sidebar. See Brands and profile.
- You can also ask AskGlow to prepare a card. Nothing starts until you click Confirm on its proposal.
What a card holds
The top of the card shows the threat level, a competitive score out of 100, a confidence level, the number of linked sources and when the card was generated. Five tabs hold the rest:
| Tab | What you find there |
|---|---|
| Overview | Their strengths and weaknesses next to your advantages, key differentiators, recent moves, win strategy and lose risks |
| Objections | Common objections from prospects, each with your response, how to prove it and a demo action |
| Playbook | A stage-by-stage plan to win the deal, and blocking moves to make early |
| Intel | Discovery questions with what a good answer sounds like, plus proof points |
| Notes | Your personal notes, custom talking points and the card's sources |
Check the evidence
Each fact carries a badge you can open:
- SpyGlow monitored, with a date, opens the change report where SpyGlow recorded it.
- Web, with the site and a date, opens the source page.
- AI research shows a summary of web research when there is no single page to link to.
Advice such as your advantages, the win strategy and objection responses shows a line like Based on 3 facts. Open it to see the facts behind the advice and their sources.
Points SpyGlow cannot back up are left out of the card.
More evidence needed
If SpyGlow cannot find enough supported facts, you see More evidence needed and your current card stays as it was. You can click Try web research, or Check monitoring setup to make sure SpyGlow watches the competitor's important pages, such as pricing and product pages. See Competitor monitoring.
Keep a card up to date
A card never changes on its own. When SpyGlow sees new evidence about the competitor, the card shows New evidence available.
- Open the card and click Check for updates.
- When the update is ready, Review proposed update appears on the card. Each changed section shows the Current card next to the Proposed update, with sources.
- Click Accept update to use the new content, or Reject update to keep the card as it is.
Your notes, talking points and status stay the same when you accept. While an update waits for review, the list shows Update awaiting review and you cannot start another check.
Status, revisions and notes
- Status: click Edit and choose Draft, Review or Published, so your team knows which cards are ready to use. On a card with linked sources, Edit changes only the status.
- Revisions: each accepted update saves a new revision. The line under the card's title shows the revision number and when it was saved.
- Notes: on the Notes tab, edit Personal notes and Custom talking points. They are saved with the card, so teammates in your workspace see them too.
Copy and ask
- Copy puts the card on your clipboard as plain text, ready for a document, email or chat. The playbook, discovery questions, proof points and source links stay in SpyGlow.
- Copy response, on the Objections tab, copies one answer.
- Ask opens AskGlow with a question about this card, for example which talking points to use on a call.
Battle cards have no file download.
Compare cards
With two or more cards, click Compare on the Battle Cards page, tick up to five cards and click Compare. You see each competitor's threat level, score, confidence and number of strengths and weaknesses, with a count by threat level and the average score.
Limits
The top of the Battle Cards page shows two counters: cards and refreshes.
| Free | Pro | Growth | Teams | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battle cards | 1 | 10 | 30 | 50 |
| Refreshes a month | 1 | 3 | 10 | 20 |
- Creating a card and checking a card for updates each use a refresh. The pricing page calls these quick generations, and the Usage page calls them battle card generations.
- A run that fails or finds too little evidence does not use a refresh.
- Teams gets 10 more battle cards for each extra seat.
